Their two children Sarah H 1853, Charles E 1858 who is my 2nd gen. great grandfather. His 3rd wife is Sarah Elizabeth Towne 1824-1912. They had no children together. Sarah E. Towne had a child with her first husband (Vanderoef) who died prior to marriage to Asa, their child James Elwin .
Sarah Elizabeth Towne is a descendant of the Towne family from Salam Mass. And the witch trials. Her descendant, Rebecca Nurse, who was the oldest woman hung during the witch trials.
The play the Crucible was based on the Towne Family and the witch trials.
